
Coach Bob has a wide ranging practical and theoretical background both as an athlete and as a coach. He has approximately 10 years of full-time university studies in sociology, psychology, statistics, education, etc. For many years he taught teachers and nurses in research methods and statistics, where much time was spent on the interpretation of scientific article. He also gave many courses and presentations for small sports clubs in Sweden and Canada, as well as for the Austrian national orienteering team/coaches and many other groups.
He has also worked extensively outside the university in various interesting occupations. In Sweden he has been the director of a large care center for disturbed people (with a staff of 50), delivered mail, been managing director of an optical business for several years, been lecturer in research design and statistics and been a consultant for a pharmaceutical company where he was measuring quality of life for patients with kidney transplants. While in Canada his various tasks included lecturer in sociology, head researcher for a private research firm (focus on the changing of the Juvenile delinquency laws) and the district consultant for orienteering and skiing in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada as well as training and driving horses at the sackville racetrack.
His main focus was changed since the early 80's when he learned about systematic mental training and helped Lars-Eric Uneståhl with a number of his projects. Lars-Eric performed and still performs much pioneering work in mental training and coaching and is the founder of Scandinavian International University. Bob has also participated in The Scandinavian Leader College's ICC coaching training course in Costa Rica led by Lars-Eric and Elene Uneståhl.
Coach Bob has been very active in sports both as an athlete and coach. He has been the coach of the Australian national team in two World Orienteering Championships and coach for individual athletes and clubs for many years. In more recent years he coached the winner of two gold medals and one bronze at the JSM in Athletics in 2014, a bronze in JNM 2014 and 3 gold medals in the 22yr old JSM as well as the best Swedish marathoner in the woman's class at the European Championships in 2014. As an athlete he has run in 4 World Orienteering Championships and the last 14 years, competed in veteran athletics in 400m, 800m and 1500m with 8 Swedish Championships and one European Championship.
